Atmos Renewables partnering with Parron Developments to deliver the Parron Wind Farm in the North Region of the South West Interconnected System

Atmos Renewables (Atmos) is pleased to announce it has entered into a partnership with Parron Developments (Parron) to develop a wind farm of up to 648MW near Badgingarra in Western Australia, in addition to a potential Battery Energy Storage System.

Atmos and Parron are excited to announce their partnership focused on the Parron Wind Farm, which will make a material contribution to building Western Australia’s clean and renewable energy future.

Recognising early the impending need for renewable generation in Western Australia and the world class wind resource in the northern region of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), Parron began developing the site in 2016 with the installation of a 150m meteorological mast that has demonstrated a world class wind resource.

The project is well advanced with a secured development approval, defined layout and grid application submitted. Parron has been working with Western Power for the past 5 years to optimise the connection options and the project is ideally positioned to deliver green energy pre-2030.

Atmos Renewables is one of the top renewable energy generators in Australia, with interests in 15 large-scale renewable energy plants, including eight 100%-owned and two majority-owned.  The current Atmos portfolio operates across all regions of the National Electricity Market (NEM), generating 2.5 TWh of electricity, powering 485,000 homes and offsetting 1.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions.  Atmos is also building a substantial development pipeline for future investment and expansion, and has been seeking partnerships with quality developers such as Parron, as well as growing its own capability to support the development of new renewable energy and storage infrastructure.

Parron is a niche wind farm developer that brings strong technical capability, coupled with a pragmatic but relationship-driven development.

Parron’s founder, Tim Stevenson, said “It’s fantastic to be partnering with the Atmos team on this landmark project for Western Australia. We have assembled a high-quality team to develop and deliver the project. We’re both passionate about delivering high quality renewable projects based on long-term relationships and look forward to making a material contribution to Western Australia’s energy transition”.

Nigel Baker, Chief Executive Officer of Atmos, said the partnership with Parron continues Atmos’ growth strategy to expand and deliver on its portfolio of Australian renewable energy assets.

“Atmos is committed to playing a significant role in enabling Australia’s energy transition. Parron brings to the partnership a wealth of renewables development experience, along with an advanced and high-quality wind project and is a great fit as a partner for Atmos to take this project forward”, Mr Baker said.
