Atmos Renewables partnering with Wind Projects Australia

Thursday 22 February 2024:

Atmos Renewables (Atmos) and Wind Projects Australia (WPA) are pleased to announce they have entered into a partnership to develop renewable energy projects across the Australian market.

The partnership will see WPA identify and develop renewable energy facilities hand in glove with the Atmos team, with a primary focus on wind projects. It is anticipated that these projects will make a material contribution to building Australia’s clean and renewable energy future.

Atmos Renewables is one of the top renewable energy generators in Australia, with interests in 15 large-scale renewable energy plants, including eight 100%-owned and two majority-owned.  The current Atmos portfolio operates across all regions of the National Electricity Market (NEM), generating 2.5 TWh of electricity, powering 485,000 homes and offsetting 1.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions.  Atmos is also building a substantial development pipeline for future investment and expansion, and has been seeking partnerships with quality developers such as WPA, as well as growing its own team and capability to support the development of new renewable energy and storage infrastructure.

WPA is a niche wind farm developer that brings strong technical capability coupled with pragmatic but relationship-driven development. WPA has identified and secured over 1 GW of wind farm sites across the NEM and is excited to have a partner with which to develop these sites and bring them to fruition.

WPA’s founder Jerome Rowcroft said “We are excited to have formalised this partnership that will deliver high quality projects based on long-term relationships. We share a common ethos in how we do business – valuing integrity and people, building and operating projects that leave lasting positive legacies for communities.” Dr Rowcroft works alongside fellow Director Kingsley Slipper and non-executive Director Keith Middleton.

Nigel Baker, Chief Executive Officer of Atmos, said the partnership with WPA continues Atmos’ growth strategy and allows Atmos to leverage WPA’s capabilities to accelerate the growth of its portfolio of Australian renewable energy assets.

The partnership announcement with WPA follows the announcement in December 2023 of a partnership with Nomad Energy in WA for a 1GW portfolio of projects planned to be connected to the SWIS by 2030.

“Atmos is committed to playing a significant role in enabling Australia’s energy transition. We look forward to working with the experienced WPA team on their  portfolio of early-stage development projects, and see WPA as a strong partner for Atmos to take those projects forward”, Mr Baker said.
