Kiata Wind Farm
Kiata Wind Farm is located approximately 50km north west of Horsham and consists of 9 x 3.45MW turbines. Commercial operations were reached in February 2018 and is connected to the Horsham-Nhill 66kV distribution network.

Community Grants Program
The Kiata Wind Farm Community Grant Program offers financial support to eligible community groups to encourage and support community projects that provide a service or program to residents. Funding to the value of $20,000 is allocated each year to projects that contribute to the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the community in the vicinity of Kiata Wind Farm.
Applications are open in November each year.

Prior Years Community Grants
The 2021 Community Grants Program awarded funding to eight organisations:
- Nhill A&P Society – Showground tables
- Nhill A&P Vintage Club – Meeting room construction
- Nhill Bowling Club – Toilet vanity area upgrade
- Nhill Urban Fire Brigade – Cordless vacuum cleaner
- Nhill Silo Heritage Project – Roof repairs/upgrades
- Sing Australia – Music audio/visual system
- West Wimmera Health – Mobility garden
- Winiam Hall – Dining hall wall and ceiling painting

The 2020 Community Grants Program awarded funding to seven organisations:
- Wimmera Hearing Society – Hearing Health school project
- CFA Lowan Group – Real time messaging app
- Nhill A&P Society – Touch free hand sanitising units
- Lions Club of Nhill – Security front doors
- Nhill Bowling Club – Lawn equipment package
- Winiam Hall – Garden and hall upgrade
Congratulations to these successful applicants.
In 2019 Kiata Wind Farm received 17 applications totaling over $55,000 of funding requested, delivering $20,000 to 8 successful community groups and assisting with funding for larger works and enabling others to complete their entire projects.

Nhill Historical Society
Purchased 4 mannequins allowing a rotational display of their wedding gown collection.
Nhill Bowling Club
Purchased 40 new outdoor chairs, allowing spectators and bowler alike to rest their weary legs.
Nhill A&P Society
Commissioned a local fabricator to fabricate some custom-made outdoor tables & benches.
Community Grants Program 2015 – 2016
During 2015 & 2016, Kiata Wind Farm made available four $1,000 grants in each year, available to suitable community groups as part of the initial stage of construction.
Community Grants Program 2017
The 2017 program was expanded to the full $20,000 as the site began to operate. 21 applications were received, and 10 successful applicants selected to receive funding from across the region.
Wimmera Hockey Association
Developed a very comprehensive year-book, displaying the seasons action.
Lowan Lodge
undertook a revamp of the Wagonin tourist information board.
Nhill Bowling Club
Was able to update the ladies honour board which had not been touched since 1987.
Nhill Cemetery trust
Purchased a new ride-on mower, not just mowing lawn but assisting in maintaining the cemetery grounds in many ways.
Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre
Received small contribution towards the “Wirraway” project, where the restored ex-flight training plane was purchased for display at the heritage centre.
Nhill & District Sporting Club
Received assistance in completing the resurfacing of the netball court.
Nhill Fire Brigade
Received funding for a Defibrillator (AED), ensuring the community has access to life saving equipment.
