Atmos Renewables partnering with Nomad Energy to deliver Western Australian renewables projects

Atmos Renewables (Atmos) is pleased to announce it has entered into a partnership with Nomad
Energy (Nomad) to develop renewable energy projects in Western Australia.
The partnership aims to deliver wind, BESS and solar/BESS hybrid projects in support of Western Australia’s de-carbonisation ambitions and energy needs. Nomad Energy has a portfolio of utilityscale
renewable energy projects, representing over 1GW of planned SWIS-connected generation capacity by 2030, which will now be accelerated towards commercialisation through this strategic partnership with Atmos.
Atmos Renewables is one of the top renewable energy generators in Australia, with interests in 15 large-scale renewable energy plants, including eight 100%-owned and two majority-owned. The current Atmos portfolio operates across all regions of the National Electricity Market (NEM), generating 2.5 TWh of electricity, powering 485,000 homes and offsetting 1.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions. Atmos is also building a substantial development pipeline for future investment and expansion, and has been actively seeking partnerships with quality developers such as Nomad, as well as growing its own team and capability to support the development of new renewable energy and storage infrastructure.
Nomad Energy was a founder, shareholder and equity partner in Stellata Energy which developed Western Australia’s largest operating solar asset, Merredin Solar Farm (132MWp, not part of the Atmos-Nomad partnership), and was also a founder, shareholder and equity partner in Solas Éireann which developed and sold over 300MW of solar projects across Ireland. Nomad has closed numerous off-take agreements, most recently between Merredin Solar Farm and BHP Nickel West, as well as closing joint venture funding agreements in excess of $300m AUD across its various development portfolios.
Nomad Energy’s founder and Managing Director, Guy Beesley, said “It’s fantastic to be partnering with Atmos on our WA portfolio. There are great synergies between the teams and our shared passion for delivering market leading renewable energy assets forms the basis of what will be an exciting and successful partnership.”
Nigel Baker, Chief Executive Officer of Atmos, said the partnership with Nomad marks an exciting step in the company’s strategy to further grow its portfolio of Australian renewable energy assets. “Atmos is committed to playing a significant role in enabling Australia’s energy transition and Western Australia is an important part of that transition. The partnership with Nomad is Atmos’ first investment in renewable energy in WA and provides a compelling opportunity to grow the company’s renewable energy investments in that state. Nomad brings to the partnership a wealth of local and international renewables development experience, along with a quality portfolio of early-to-mid stage development projects, and is a great fit as a partner for Atmos to take those projects forward”, Mr Baker said.
